A member of the Philippine National Police-Special Action Force (PNP-SAF) and two other individuals were killed in an armed confrontation in Indanan, Sulu on Thursday, October 30, 2025.
Police and military troops, along with agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), were about to serve a search warrant against identified targets when the suspects opened fire, forcing government forces to retaliate.
According to the 100th Infantry Battalion, the brief but intense exchange of fire resulted in the wounding of two PNP-SAF personnel, one of whom died later while undergoing treatment.
The military added that two of the target personalities were also killed and five others were arrested.
Authorities also recovered several firearms and ammunition.
“Following the operation, post-operation coordination meetings (“pulong-pulong”) with local officials are being conducted to preserve peace and order and to foster community cooperation in the aftermath of the incident,” the 100th Infantry Battalion said.
“The 100th Infantry (Kalasag) Battalion deeply mourns the passing of the valiant PNP-SAF personnel who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty, as well as the loss of life among the armed personalities during the encounter,” the military added.
