Congestion has built up at the Bulaong Bus Terminal in General Santos City, not only because of travelers for Undas, but also due to the closure of a portion of its bay area that was damaged by the powerful earthquake that struck Davao Oriental on October 10, 2025.
The area has been cordoned off after being declared unsafe for vehicles and passengers.
The damaged structure is set to be demolished to ensure public safety.
“Based sa assessment sa atung City Engineer’s Office, meron nang problema sa structural integrity. So meaning high risk na siya for sa atung passengers,” Bulaong Bus Terminal Administraive Aide, Renato Gonzales, said.
As a result, travelers have crowded the terminal, particularly those returning to their home provinces to pay respects to their departed loved ones.
Only one side of the terminal, previously used for van, remains operational, as of this writing.
Authorities expect the number of passengers to double from the usual 20,000, as returning residents coincide with delegates heading home after the recently concluded Batang Pinoy Games held in the city.
The terminal management is appealing for public understanding and has assured that measures are in place to manage passenger movement efficiently and maintain order.
“Panawagan namin na taasan lang nila ang pasensya. But rest assured we will take actions already,” Gonzales added.
