A lahar advisory for Kanlaon Volcano in Negros Island was issued on Monday, November 3, 2025, in anticipation of the effects of Typhoon Tino.

DOST-PHIVOLCS has issued a lahar advisory for Kanlaon Volcano as heavy rains are expected due to #TinoPH.

According to DOST-PAGASA’S weather bulletins issued on November 3, 2025, the Central Philippines including Negros Island is set to experience heavy to intense rainfall in the next days.

"This weather event may trigger volcanic sediment flows or lahars, muddy streamflows or muddy run-off in rivers and drainage areas around Kanlaon Volcano, posing risks to nearby communities," PHIVOLCS said.

PHIVOLCS cited that communities near Tamburong/Ibid Creek in Barangay Biak na Bato, and Baji-Baji Falls and Talaptapan Creek in Barangay Cabacungan, La Castellana, Negros Occidental, drainages that are headed on gullies covered by recent pyroclastic density deposits, are particularly at risk.

Lahars, or volcanic mudflows, could occur due to prolonged rains, posing threats such as flooding, erosion, or burial of downstream areas, PHIVOLCS added.

DOST-PHIVOLCS urges residents and local government units to be vigilant, monitor closely the weather, and take precautionary measures to ensure safety, stay informed, and be ready for possible evacuations.
