Piles of trash were seen inside and outside cemeteries in Dagupan City morning on Monday, November 3, 2025, left behind by visitors who flocked to the area over the Undas weekend.
According to the management of the Roman Catholic Cemetery, more than 5,000 people visited the cemetery during the observance of All Saints’ and All Souls’ Days.
“Ang paglilinis na gagawin namin para 'yung mga dadalaw ulit ngayon eh masaya pa rin silang dumating sa kampo santo natin na malinis po,” Anton Pacheco, a caretaker, said.
Pacheco said their team cleans the cemetery daily, but the amount of garbage left this year would take at least a week to clear. They have deployed eight personnel along with other volunteers to help restore cleanliness in the area.
Outside the cemetery, the Barangay Council of Poblacion Oeste also joined the cleanup efforts.
Barangay Kagawad Badz Fernandez said they plan to seek help from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) to wash away grease and soot.
“Iflu-flushing siya, para maalis yung mga mantika tapos yung mga uling,” Fernandez said.
The cemetery management assured that despite the rain over the weekend, there was no flooding in the area.
“Hindi naman totally na baha. Talagang tubig ulan lang po siya. Yes po, linis agad tsaka malinis po eh, wala naman siyang putik na dala kundi ulan lang talaga,” Pacheco said.
