A Philippine Air Force (PAF) helicopter deployed for humanitarian assistance and disaster response (HADR) operations related to Typhoon #TinoPH has crashed in Loreto, Agusan del Sur on Tuesday, November 4, 2025.
Eastern Mindanao Command Spokesperson, Lt. Col. Salvacion Evangelista, confirmed the incident.
“May confirmation na po na may nag-crash tayo na helicopter purposely to support HADR operations re Typhoon Tino. Wala pa po other details,” Evangelista said.
The aircraft, identified as a Super Huey, reportedly crashed in Loreto town while heading to the Tactical Operations Group 10 in Butuan City.
It was deployed to deliver humanitarian aid and support disaster relief efforts in areas affected by the typhoon.
On Tuesday evening, EastMinCom confirmed that six bodies believed to be those of the pilot and crew members have been recovered following search and rescue operations.
Authorities said the identities of the fatalities are being withheld pending notification of their respective families.
EastMinCom added that the troops from the 60th Infantry Battalion and the 10th Infantry Division have secured the crash site and are assisting the Philippine Air Force in the ongoing investigation.
In a statement, the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) said the aircraft had been deployed to conduct Rapid Damage Assessment and Needs Analysis (RDANA) operations in relation to the effects of the typhoon when the crash happened.
OCD extended its sympathies to the families and loved ones of the PAF personnel who lost their lives during the aid mission.
"The OCD honors the courage and dedication of the fallen airmen who served the nation with selflessness and bravery," OCD said.
