Two security guards of the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) were found dead inside the agency’s building in Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay morning on Tuesday, November 4, 2025.
The victims, 41 and 52 years old, were both residents of the province and were on night duty.
According to the Zamboanga Sibugay Police Provincial Office, one of the victims had at least five gunshot wounds in the face, chin, and chest while the other sustained three gunshot wounds in the head.
Investigators believe the guards had been shot hours before they were discovered.
“Nung naabutan po ng personnel ng BIR, patay na yung dalawa, medyo dry na ang dugo,” Zamboanga Sibugay Police Provincial Office Spokesperson, Lt. Gina Magnaye, said.
Authorities are pursuing the suspects, as of this writing. They are also checking if there are CCTV footage near the crime scene.
Investigation into the incident continues to identify the perpetrators and determine the motive.
