Police and agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Northern Mindanao seized suspected shabu worth more than P115 million and arrested two suspects in a sting operation in Barangay Kauswagan, Cagayan de Oro City on Tuesday, November 4, 2205.
PDEA-10 said during the operation, authorities confiscated seven plastic bags of suspected shabu weighing around 17 kilos.
Authorities identified the suspects arrested as alias “Macoy,” 19, and alias “Alex,” 36.
The suspects are now detained and will face charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act (RA 9165).
PDEA-10 Director, Alex Tablate, said the confiscation of the more than P115 million worth of illegal drugs in the city is, by far, the biggest haul of shabu in Northern Mindanao’s history.
He added that the successful operation showed the relentless effort and joint undertaking of both PDEA and the police to reduce the supply of illegal drugs.
“This accomplishment may have been a blow to these drug traffickers because of the considerable amount of the drugs seized to their loss. However, for operatives, this should not really be a time for rejoicing, instead this should serve as a warning that our continued fight must remain constant and aggressive because our enemies will always find ways,” Tablate said.
Tablate urged the public to support the efforts to eradicate the menace of illegal drugs.
“We from PDEA and PNP are not doing this simply because this is our job…but more than that because we too have our families that we love, and we will do everything within our means to protect them all the way,” Tablate added.
Police Regional Office-Northern Mindanao (PRO-10) Director, Brigadier General Christopher Abrahano, also lauded the operating units for the successful operation.
“I extend my highest commendation to the PDEA R10 and PRO10 personnel for their successful joint anti-drug operation. Through our collective effort, we have once again disrupted a significant drug distribution network and prevented the further spread of illegal drugs in Northern Mindanao,” Abrahano said.
