Police intercepted dried marijuana estimated to be worth over P17.7 million at a checkpoint in Bakun, Benguet morning on Tuesday, November 4, 2025.
Authorities said they were conducting routine inspection in Barangay Gambang when they noticed a vehicle maneuver suddenly and speed away. Police pursued and cornered the vehicle in Sitio Mogao where the two passengers tried to escape but were arrested.
Inside the suspects’ vehicle, authorities discovered 127 kilograms of tubular dried marijuana leaves packed in sacks and garbage bags. Both suspects, residents of Parañaque City, will face appropriate charges. Police said they have yet to issue a statement.
Meanwhile, in Dagupan City, police arrested a 52-year-old woman during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Lucao on the same night.
Recovered from her possession were more than 100 grams of suspected shabu valued at nearly P700,000, along with the marked money used in the operation.
According to the PNP, the suspect, a resident of Barangay Bonuan Binloc, is listed as a high-value individual in the city’s drug watchlist.
“Ayon sa ating impormasyon, matagal nang minamanmanan itong target. Kami po ay nananawagan sa ating mga kababayan na maging mapagmatyag, tulungan tayo sa kampanya laban sa droga,” PCpt. Vladimer Custer Austria, commander of Dagupan City Police Station 4, said.
The suspect will also face drug-related charges and is yet to release a statement.
