A 63-year-old fisherman from Cuyo, Palawan, was rescued after being swept away by strong waves during Typhoon #TinoPH and drifting for about 18 hours.

In a report by Kenneth Calumris on Super Radyo Palawan, authorities identified the man as Eddie Magalona, a resident of Barangay Tabunan, Cuyo.

According to the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) Agutaya, Magalona left Cuyo aboard a blue-and-yellow fishing boat around 9 p.m. on November 4, 2025.

He was found at the Agutaya shoreline around 3 p.m. the following day after being carried away by rough seas.

The straight-line distance between Cuyo and Agutaya is about 33.8 kilometres, according to PhilAtlas.

Responders from MDRRMO Agutaya, together with barangay officials and other government agencies, rescued and checked his condition immediately.

Magalona was safe and is now under the care of the Agutaya local government for additional assistance and coordination with his family.

Agutaya Mayor Fernando G. Ilustrisimo Sr. said they are in close coordination with the Cuyo local government and concerned agencies to bring Magalona back home.
