Authorities destroyed more than P1 billion worth of illegal drugs seized in various operations in Zamboanga Peninsula on Thursday, November 6, 2025.

The illegal drugs were incinerated using a boiler at a facility in Barangay Talisayan, Zamboanga City.

According to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Zamboanga (PDEA-9), the dangerous drugs destroyed included more than 164 kilos of shabu, 6.6 kilos of marijuana, and over four grams of ephedrine, a stimulant.

The total value of the destroyed drugs amounted to more than P1.1 billion, which PDEA said marks the largest drug destruction activity ever conducted by the agency under its anti-illegal drug operations.

PDEA said the confiscated drugs came from various operations carried out jointly by PDEA-9 and the police in the region from 2020 to 2025.

The thermal destruction was conducted in compliance with court orders issued by the Regional Trial Courts of Pagadian City, Molave, and San Miguel in Zamboanga del Sur, as well as from Iligan City, Isabela City, Basilan, and Zamboanga City.

PDEA assured that it will intensify its campaign against illegal drugs in the region.
