A 22-year-old man died after he was hit accidentally by a speeding armored van while chatting with a friend along the roadside in Barangay Pias Sur, Currimao, Ilocos Norte.
The victim was identified as Numeriano Asuncion.
Police said the armored van was overtaking another vehicle when the driver lost control of the steering wheel and struck Asuncion. It happened evening on Tuesday, November 4, 2025.
Asuncion sustained severe head injuries that caused his death. His companion, who was with him during the incident, was unharmed.
The driver of the armored van has surrendered to police. Authorities said the driver and the victim’s relatives have begun initial discussions following the incident.
Police continue to investigate as of press time, and reminded motorists to drive carefully to avoid accidents.
