Former Cebu governor, congressman, and mayor Eduardo (Eddie) Gullas has passed away.

“REST WELL, PAPA EDDIE,” said Talisay City, Cebu Mayor Gerald Anthony (Samsam) Gullas in a post on Friday, November 7, 2025.

“Akong ipahibaw nga hingpit nang mibiya sa kalibutan si Papa Eddie,” the mayor said.

He said that his grandfather passed away on November 6, 2025. Eddie Gullas was 95.

“Akong kasakit karun nagpatong-patong, sa nahitabo karun sa Talisay. Grabe akong dughan gikumot sa kasakit unya karun gipun-an pa sa pagkawala ni Papa Eddie,” his post added.

“To Papa Eddie, rest well in the arms of our Creator. I will truly miss you and your advises. I love you pa [emoji in tears],” the mayor also said.

Eddie’s wake is at the Crystal Palace in Nivel Hills, Barangay Lahug, Cebu City and Holy Mass is set at 8:00 every night. He will be laid to rest on Tuesday, November 11, 2025.

Atty. Eduardo Rivera Gullas is a former mayor of Talisay City, congressman of the 1st Legislative District of Cebu Province, and governor of the Province of Cebu.

He was chairman emeritus of the University of the Visayas, the first university in Cebu.
