Flooding caused by continuous downpour from #UwanPH has displaced around 1,487 families or 5,885 individuals from 25 barangays in Butuan City, as of 5 p.m. on Saturday, November 8, 2025.
According to the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Department (CDRRMD), the families affected are taking shelter temporarily at evacuation centers in their respective barangays.
CDRRMD Incident Commander Elmer Casapao said even though Butuan City is no longer under any tropical cyclone signal, the city continues to face the threat of strong winds and heavy rains brought by the typhoon.
“Although wala tay labot sa signal sa tropical cyclone, dako gihapon og posibilidad nga maapektohan ta sa kinatibuk-ang sitwasyon sa panahon,” Casapao was quoted as saying.
Aside from flooding, CDRRMD also recorded rain-induced landslides, coastal flooding, and fallen trees in several areas of the city.
As of 3:45 p.m., a portion of the road in Barangay Sumile became impassable after a culvert was reportedly washed out. Barangay officials have requested assistance for a backhoe and dump truck to repair the damage.
As a result, three communities were affected by flooding, and residents have taken shelter temporarily at Datu Man Oloy Tribal Elementary School.
In Barangays Doongan and Imadejas, roads have been cleared of fallen trees and have been opened to motorists.
The city government urged residents to stay alert, cooperate with authorities, and evacuate immediately when advised to ensure their safety.
