Typhoon #UwanPH (international name: Fung-Wong) grew stronger early Sunday, November 9, 2025, as it moved closer to the Bicol Region, packing powerful winds and heavy rain that could reach super typhoon strength within the day.

At 1 a.m., PAGASA said the eye of Uwan was spotted 370 kilometers east of Virac, Catanduanes, carrying maximum sustained winds of 165 km/h and gusts up to 205 km/h while moving west-northwest at 35 km/h.

The typhoon’s winds now stretch as far as 800 kilometers from its center, covering a wide area of Luzon and Visayas.

PAGASA said Uwan may pass close to Catanduanes this morning and could make landfall over Aurora Province by tonight or early Sunday morning.

The agency warned that a direct hit over Catanduanes is possible if the typhoon slightly shifts south.

PAGASA warned that Uwan could intensify into a super typhoon before landfall due to favorable weather conditions.

After landfall, Uwan is expected to cross Northern Luzon’s mountain ranges and may emerge over Lingayen Gulf or the coastal waters of Pangasinan or La Union by Monday morning.
