Strong winds and heavy rains battered Aurora, Isabela, and Nueva Ecija as Super Typhoon Uwan made landfall in Dinalungan, Aurora, evening on Sunday, November 9, 2025.

In Aurora, the storm tore through coastal areas, ripping roofs off buildings and damaging several structures. Loud gusts of wind and relentless rainfall filled the air as waves crashed onto the shore.

Jun de Vera, a resort owner, said they had no choice but to abandon their property to stay safe.

“Hindi naman po natin kagustuhan ito, kaysa naman tao ang mawala. Iniwan po namin ito. Kung hindi namin iiwan, baka may mangyari po sa amin,” he said.

The following day, large piles of debris littered the main road in Dipaculao after massive waves battered the coast. Authorities closed the route leading to Casiguran temporarily as a safety measure.

In Isabela, strong winds and rain also hit Santiago City, scattering roof sheets and toppling signages.

According to the Isabela Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), around 14,000 residents have evacuated from flood-prone areas and homes made of light materials. The overflow bridge in the city also became impassable due to flooding.

In Nueva Ecija, powerful winds battered the province, bending trees and shaking a waiting shed caught on camera as it swayed violently under the storm. Fallen trees blocked several roads leading to the north, prompting the PDRRMC Task Force to launch clearing operations in multiple towns.

Local governments also carried out preemptive evacuations, particularly in areas near rivers and creeks. In Bongabon town, officials raised the dike in Barangay Calaanan to prevent floodwaters from spilling into homes.

According to the Nueva Ecija PDRRMO, four major rivers are under close watch as rains continue across the province as of press time.

TRACK OF #UWANPH

Uwan entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) early on the week of its landfall.

According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), Uwan made landfall over Dinalungan, Aurora at around 9:10 p.m. (PHT) on Sunday, November 9, 2025.

At landfall, Uwan was classified as a super typhoon, packing maximum sustained winds of 185 km/h near the centre and gusts up to 230 km/h, with a central pressure of 935 hPa.

PAGASA noted that as the storm crossed the mountainous terrain of Northern Luzon, its interaction with land would cause significant weakening, but it was expected to remain at typhoon strength during its passage.
