More than 2,000 families were affected after heavy rains brought by Super Typhoon #Uwan triggered flooding in Zamboanga City on Sunday, November 9, 2025.

An aerial video showed several houses submerged in floodwaters after a river in Barangay Tugbungan reportedly overflowed around 10:30 a.m.

One family had to be rescued using a wheel loader after floodwaters reached their house. A vehicle was also seen being towed by a truck after it stalled on a flooded road.

Floodwaters in the barangay reached nearly waist-deep. Rescuers waded through the waters to save stranded residents.

In Barangay Tumaga, several houses near riverbanks were also submerged in floodwaters after the river overflowed.

According to the local government, around 2,198 families from 12 flooded barangays were affected, as of 7 a.m. on Monday, November 10. The families affected are taking shelter temporarily at 13 evacuation centers in the city and were given assistance by the local government.

However, some residents affected have returned to their homes after the floodwaters gradually subsided.

Meanwhile, a house was damaged after a coconut tree fell on it due to strong winds in Lebak, Sultan Kudarat. No one was reported hurt in the incident.

A similar incident happened in Cotabato City, where a tree also fell on a house. Residents were unharmed and clearing operations were conducted immediately.

State weather bureau PAGASA said the heavy rains and strong winds experienced in Mindanao was due to #UwanPH.
