Strong winds and huge waves destroyed houses along coastal barangays in Iloilo City dawn on Monday, November 10, 2025 beginning in the previous evening at the onslaught of Super Typhoon Uwan in Southern Luzon.
The strong winds and huge waves left streets and houses inundated. Worst hit is Barangay Santo Niño Sur, Arevalo District.
The surge of seawaters deposited sand, gravel, wood, garbage, and other debris on roads. A clearing operation was conducted immediately.
"Need na i-clear ang buhangin kasi it will block the drainage system. Kung makapasok sa drainage natin, mahirap na kunin,” said Engr. Neil Ravena, head of the Iloilo City General Services Office.
Huge waves destroyed a house owned by Early Garcia; some parts of the house were swept away.
”Hindi na nakaligtas kasi luma na ang haligi. Hindi ko natalian,” Garcia said.
The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Iloilo City's consolidation efforts on a list of affected residents and damaged houses are ongoing, as of this writing.
