Strong winds brought by Super Typhoon #UwanPH destroyed several houses in Calasiao, Pangasinan, leaving some residents displaced and calling for assistance.
In Sitio Highway, Barangay Lasip, the roof of 47-year-old Criselda Manzano’s house was torn off by fierce winds. The family had evacuated on Sunday morning as a precaution but returned the next day to find their home severely damaged.
Siyempre, takot kaming lumapit baka makuryente po kami,” Manzano said.
Nearby, the house of her sister, 40-year-old Evelyn Bartarlo, was also destroyed. The walls and roof collapsed under the strong gusts, scattering metal sheets across the fields.
“Yung kalabog as in malakas, parang kulog,” Bartarlo said.
Bartarlo said her family was fortunate to escape unharmed.
“Sana po, matulungan kami kasi wala kaming sapat na pampaayos,” she added.
Barangay officials are coordinating with the municipal government to provide assistance to affected residents.
According to the Calasiao Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO), 14 houses were destroyed while 112 were damaged due to Typhoon Uwan.
The entire province of Pangasinan has been placed under a state of calamity through Presidential Proclamation No. 1077 issued by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
The provincial government assured that clearing operations and aid delivery are ongoing in affected areas.
