Several people were killed while others remain missing after a series of landslides struck different parts of the Cordillera region in the wake of Super Typhoon #UwanPH.
In Lubuagan, Kalinga, two people were confirmed dead, one was injured, and two others remain missing after a portion of land collapsed in Barangay Western Uma on Monday, November 10, 2025.
According to the Lubuagan Municipal Information Office, the victims had gone to inspect a damaged house when the ground suddenly gave way.
The fatalities were identified as Aki Magwin and Eric Magwin, 45, a farmer.
The missing were named as Barangay Councilman Redento Tinio and Recardo Magwin. As of press time, search and rescue operations are ongoing to locate the missing individuals.
In Kabayan, Benguet, a 65-year-old woman died after a landslide hit the first floor of her home in Barangay Ballay early Monday while she was sleeping.
The Kabayan local government said rescue operations were delayed for nearly four hours due to impassable roads.
Based on the post-mortem examination, the cause of death was traumatic brain injury.
In Tinoc, Ifugao, one person was killed after being buried by soil and a fallen pine tree that crashed onto his home evening on Sunday, November 9, at the height of the super typhoon.
Authorities retrieved the victim’s body the following morning, according to the Tinoc Municipal Police Station.
In Barlig, Mountain Province, a senior citizen died when a landslide buried their home in Barangay Latang. Two others in the same house were injured but were rescued through the help of residents.
The slide also destroyed parts of nearby rice terraces.
NO CASUALTY IN BAGUIO
Meanwhile, in Baguio City, there were no casualties reported. However, strong winds toppled pine trees and electric poles, causing widespread power outages.
“Nagulat kami na minimal lang ang impact sa amin, we were spared from devastation. Malaki 'yung impact nung mountain range natin, mayroon tayong Sierra Madre, tapos siyempre pagpasok dito sa Cordilleras so nakatulong nang malaki” Mayor Benjamin Magalong of Baguio City said.
Authorities continue to monitor landslide-prone areas as search, rescue, and clearing operations remain underway across the Cordillera region.
