Several residents in Negros Occidental lost both house and source of livelihood at the onslaught of Typhoon Tino on November 4, 2025.
The losses have beset 80-year-old Erineo, a resident of Himamaylan City.
Erineo is among over 100,000 individuals affected by the typhoon in Negros Occidental.
Aside from sources of livelihood and houses, potable water sources are a growing concern.
At the onslaught of Typhoon Tino, the main line of water source in Himamaylan City was destroyed.
"Ang hirap kasi ang tubig ang problema. Sobra-sobra na experience, first time namin na naranasan ito,” Annabel Acup, a resident, said.
Sa pressure siguro ng tubig,” Felicidad Perez, another resident, said.
One of the solutions that the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Himamaylan City has opted is a water filtration machine. However, laboratory results may take time.
As of this writing, water rationing is the temporary solution provided by the LGU.
"We are happy to be partners with the Bureau of Fire, EOC, DRRM Office, kasi mayroon silang water tanker na pinu-provide,” according to Ever Grace Castro, head of Himamaylan City Social Welfare and Development Office.
During Vice President Sara Duterte’s visit on Tuesday, November 11, 2025 in Himamaylan City, she vowed to coordinate with government agencies to assist the LGU.
From Himamaylan City, Duterte proceeded to other LGUs in Negros Occidental – Binalbagan, Moises Padilla, La Castellana, La Carlota City, Bago City, and Bacolod City for the distribution of water, food items, bags of rice, and other essentials, as well as livelihood assistance to beneficiaries.
