A 17-year-old boy allegedly responsible for the killing of a 15-year-old girl in Laak, Davao de Oro has turned himself in to authorities.

Police said the suspect, accompanied by his parents, surrendered on November 8, 2025, and admitted to strangling the victim to death on April 18, 2025.

The suspect reportedly told the police that after meeting the victim along the road near their home, they consumed a bottle of liquor beside a convenience store with a certain “John Diel” and two other unidentified men.

After drinking, the suspect reportedly lured the victim to an abandoned house in Purok 3A, where the crime took place.

The suspect reportedly claimed the murder was premeditated and motivated by anger over an alleged insult from the victim toward his live-in partner.

The suspect allegedly dragged the victim to a room in the abandoned house and strangled her with his right hand. The suspect also used an ID sling from another room to finish the crime.

After the incident, the suspect also told authorities that he removed the victim’s lower undergarments, allegedly to make it appear that the victim had been sexually assaulted.

The victim, whose body was already in a state of decomposition, was discovered on October 27, 2025.

Police said the suspect’s confession was made voluntarily in the presence of his lawyer, parents, Purok chairman, the Women and Children Protection Desk officer, and the case investigator.

The suspect is now under police custody pending the filing of charges.

Since the suspect is a minor, police turned him over to the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) for appropriate legal proceedings.

Authorities urged parents to monitor their children to prevent them from becoming victims or perpetrators of a crime.
