"I have planted 6 timed bombs in the campus.”
This is the message that startled and worried parents, students, teachers, and school personnel of the University of San Agustin Basic Education Department in Barangay Sambag, Jaro, Iloilo City morning on Wednesday, November 12, 2025.
Based on investigation done by Jaro Police, teachers received the message from a fake social media account. The message reads that two bombs were placed in the Kindergarten building and four at the main building of the university.
It was indicated that the bomb threat was perpetrated because of alleged “unjust treatment” of some teachers to students.
The students were gathered and told of a fire drill. When they were already at an open space, the school administrator informed parents and guardians of the threat.
According to Cathy Comodero, a parent, she fetched her child immediately upon receiving the same bomb threat in a group chat.
“Pina-fire drill raw sila.
Police personnel checked the buildings, and declared the university cleared of any bombs by 10 a.m.
“Dineclare (declare) ng ating EOD [Explosives and Ordnance Division] na clear ang area for any destructive bombs or mga bomba,” Laraño added.
GMA Regional TV One Western Visayas tried to seek a statement from the university, and is awaiting reply.
