Three days after Super Typhoon #UwanPH battered Pangasinan, Tondaligan Beach in Dagupan City remains in disarray, with damaged cottages, scattered trash, and debris lining the shore.

Before the typhoon struck on Sunday, November 9, 2025, cottage owners tied their huts to nearby trees to keep them secure. But the storm’s strong winds and waves still tore through the beachside structures, leaving many owners struggling to recover their livelihoods.

“Ito lahat, punong-puno ng mga basura. ‘Yung may-ari niyan, humingi ng tulong, binuhat-buhat namin ‘yan. ‘Yung mga mesa, upuan para magamit pa. Tinanggal ‘yung mga basura,” Ferdinand Marcaida, a cottage caretaker at Tondaligan Beach Park, said.

Some residents have started repairing the damaged cottages through bayanihan or community effort.

The lifeguard tower along the beach was also toppled by the storm, and parts of Tondaligan Beach Park remain flooded.

Authorities continue to prohibit swimming and leisure activities as strong waves still pound the shore.

“Medyo kampante naman na kami. Observe na lang para kung in case na ano, lilikas din kami,” Criselda Saclolo, a tourist visiting the area, said.

According to ENS. Johnas Mitra, substation commander of the Philippine Coast Guard in Dagupan City, monitoring efforts remain in place.

“Continuous pa rin po ang Philippine Coast Guard Substation Dagupan at iba pang sub-station sa pag-monitor po ng ating coastal areas at rivers,” Mitra said.

As of press time, cleanup and restoration efforts are ongoing as residents and local authorities work together to bring back normalcy to one of Dagupan’s most popular beaches.
