A policeman has opened fire on his colleagues inside their quarters at the Bangued Police Station in Abra, killing two officers of the Provincial Explosive and Canine Unit (PECU).
Based on investigation, PSSg. O’Neal Ryan Calica was brushing his teeth when PLt. Jamieson Bulatao, officer-in-charge and team leader of PECU–Abra, suddenly came out of his room armed and shot Calica multiple times on Monday, November 10, 2025.
Calica sustained four gunshot wounds to the chest and was rushed to the hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.
Moments later, Bulatao allegedly fired at PSMS. Edwin Bandoc who managed to retaliate and shoot Bulatao in the chest. Bulatao was also declared dead on arrival at the hospital.
Bandoc surrendered to authorities following the incident and now faces charges. He has yet to issue a statement.
Police said the motive behind the shooting remains under investigation.
“Wala pa tayong nakikitang motibo kung ano ‘yung totoong dahilan. Sa inisyal nating imbestigasyon, mayroong matagal nang hindi pagkakaintindihan itong si Calica at si Bulatao. Pero lately, nag-uusap naman na daw sila,” PMAJ. Graeme Boy Javier, Chief of Police of Bangued, said.
