Power supply in La Union is being restored steadily three days after Super Typhoon #UwanPH battered the province and left most areas without electricity.
As of 1 p.m. on November 12, 2025, about 70 percent of the province’s power has already been restored, according to reports from electric cooperatives and companies. Authorities are targeting full restoration before the weekend.
“Halos lahat po talaga nawalan ng suplay ng kuryente, pero we are communicating with all the power supplier natin para malaman natin ang update sa restoration nila,” David Salamanca, officer-in-charge of the La Union Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), said.
Many families who lost their homes and livelihoods are now appealing for government aid, including fishermen whose boats were destroyed by storm surges.
Governor Mario Ortega assured that immediate and long-term assistance is being arranged for affected residents.
“May mga tent na ibinigay sa amin, so at least temporary dwelling nila ‘yun. Sa long-term solution, doon tayo medyo matatagalan,” Ortega said.
Initial assessments by the provincial government estimate damages at ₱7 million in agriculture and around ₱60,000 in livestock.
Authorities continue to coordinate with power providers and local agencies to speed up restoration and extend aid to affected communities as La Union works to recover from the storm’s impact.
