An Electronics Engineering student in Iloilo City was taking an examination morning on November 13, 2025 when he, along with other examinees, were told to stop and to vacate the schoolroom immediately because of an alleged bomb threat.
Lance Vincent de la Rosa, the student, said he even forgot to carry his bag because of the urgency.
”There was an ROTC cadet na pumunta sa classroom namin nang kumukuha kami ng exam. The way I reacted, iniwanan ko ang mga gamit ko sa classroom namin,” de la Rosa said.
In an investigation done by school officials, the message was received in the school's social media page. A student read the message and reported the matter immediately to a teacher of the Iloilo Science and Technology University (ISAT-U).
When the bomb threat was raised to the administration, a suspension of face-to-face classes was ordered; students were directed to go home.
According to the information officer of ISAT-U, authorities are investigating on the identity of the sender of the bomb threat.
“Sa ngayon, tinitingnan pa natin kasi parang nag-spread lang talaga itong mensahe. Just to make sure na safe ang ating kabataan at mga personnel, ipinag-utos na i-suspend na lang muna ang klase,” said Prof. Heinz Gumaquil, ISAT-U information officer.
The bomb threat caused fear and worry among staff members and students. This is not the first time the university received a bomb threat.
“Sana hindi na lang sila nandamay ng iba kasi gusto naming mag-aral nang maayos,” said Raphael Bentula, a student.
“Of course ang security ng kabataan at aming mga staff at faculty. Nag-worry kami sa aming safety. Hopefully kung sino man ang gumawa niyan, huwag na nilang gawin ulit,” said Sophia Pacardo, a staff member of ISAT-U.
After inspection of old and new sites of the university, it was declared cleared of any bombs.
