Some vendors in Dagupan City are still trying to rebuild their damaged stalls after severe flooding caused by Super Typhoon #UwanPH.
Myrna Godoy spent the morning of November 14, 20025, fixing her booth, which was destroyed at the height of the super typhoon.
She said she could not resume selling right away because floodwater reached the area and forced them to move their merchandise to safer ground.
“Hanggang ngayon po, ngayon pa lang po nagse-set-up mula noong bagyo kasi nagbaha po rito. Nilagay po lahat ng gamit sa downtown,” she said.
Other stall owners said they were recovering slowly from the impact of the storm.
“Pa-konti-konti lang. Ok na rin. Baka makabawi naman tayo ng konti. Hindi kasi natin maiwasan ’yan kasi sakuna ’yan,” Allan Sultan, another vendor, said.
Shoppers have also begun returning to the tiangge since Wednesday. For regular customers like Ginalyn Alon, the market remains the best option for affordable clothing.
“Mas afford dito, may tawad pa,” she said.
The Dagupan City Market Division said they instructed vendors to secure their goods three days before the super typhoon arrived. However, some stalls still suffered damage due to the strength of the storm.
“Kung sa damage po, may ilan lang po na medyo naging pasaway po. May mga ukay-ukay po na hindi na-secure yung paninda kaya nabasa po,” OIC Jovita Narvasa said.
The Market Division assured the public that operations at the tiangge remain orderly as vendors continue their cleanup and recovery.
