Up to 89 alleged former supporters of the New People’s Army (NPA) and the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) surrendered to authorities in Zamboanga City.

The former NPA and ASG supporters pledged to return to the folds of the law during a ceremony held at the headquarters of the Police Regional Office-Zamboanga (PRO-9) in Barangay Mercedes, Zamboanga City on Friday, November 14, 2025.

They also turned over at least 33 high-powered and low-powered firearms, including rifle grenades, hand grenades, and 113 rounds of assorted ammunition.

During the program, the local government and other agencies provided assistance packages and livelihood programs to those who surrendered as part of the reintegration process.

PRO-9 Director, Brigadier General Eleazar Mata, said they will intensify programs that would give former rebels opportunities to turn over a new leaf and embrace peace.
