A soldier was arrested for allegedly attempting to smuggle cigarettes worth nearly P200,000 in Parang, Maguindanao del Norte.
The suspect was identified as a technical sergeant assigned to the 1st Scout Ranger Battalion in Carmen, North Cotabato and a resident of Zamboanga City.
Police said up to 248 reams of alleged smuggled cigarettes placed in 10 boxes labelled originally as noodles were found in the suspect’s car.
The suspect was taken into police custody and is facing charges for violation of the Customs Modernization and Tarrif Act (RA 10863) and Graphic Health Warnings Law (RA 10643).
