A 50-year-old man was injured after he was shot inside the truck he was driving in Barangay Lagao, General Santos City afternoon on Tuesday, November 18, 2025.
Police said the victim’s companion was also injured reportedly by fragments from parts of the truck hit by bullets.
Based on investigation, the victims had just left a gas station when the driver stopped the truck and asked his companion to check something.
Two motorcycle-riding assailants reportedly pulled up beside the truck and opened fire before fleeing the scene.
The driver was brought to the hospital after sustaining gunshot wounds in the shoulder and neck. He is receiving treatment, as of this writing.
Investigators added that before the driver was rushed to the hospital, he reportedly told the police that the person riding in pillion on the motorcycle was his former live-in partner.
“Naibigay niya talaga ang pangalan ng suspek and upon review the CCTV na confirm natin na babae yung backride,” Police Station 3 Commander Major Renator Dungca, said.
Operatives then arrested the 41-year-old woman at her house in Barangay Ligaya, where she was preparing fish for sale.
The woman denied involvement in the shooting.
“Wala gyud sir kay gikan ko fishport pauli lang ko sa balay…Nganong ipapatay man naku siya unsa man i-afterun naku sa iyaha nga wala man mi anak. Wala gyud koy idea sir,” the woman said.
She also denied that she was the one riding in pillion, who allegedly ordered the rider to shoot the victim.
“Bisan subayon tanang CCTV, bisan karon I-NBI ko musugot kaayo ko sir. Dili ako. Dili gyud ko guilty ana,” the woman added.
However, police said the victim’s statement cannot be disregarded even though the woman denied the allegations.
“Hindi naman porket di-neny I discredit natin yung sinabi ng victim,” Dungca added.
Authorities are still pursuing the gunman, as of this writing. They are looking into personal grudge as possible motive.
