At least 59 families were displaced after a fire razed at least 30 houses in Sitio Mulmac, Barangay Macabalan, Cagayan de Oro City evening on Tuesday, November 18, 2025.
The number of families affected is based on initial data from the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) as of Wednesday, November 19.
Authorities said the fire broke out shortly before 8 p.m. and was raised to fourth alarm. It reportedly spread quickly as most of the houses affected were made of light materials.
Firefighters also had difficulty penetrating the area because the road is narrow.
“Tag-as na ang hose naa’y uban lima ka hose gisumpay kay wala gyud dalan pasulod sumpay sumpay na lang gyud ug hose,” Macabalan Fire Station Arson Fire Investigator, FO1 Jude Daayata, said.
Residents said the fire allegedly started at the house of the Macajilos family.

Authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire.
“Ga pangita ta ug witnesses nga possible maka palig-on sa atong theoriya,” Daayata added.
