A 28-year-old man in Cebu City who refused to lend his cellular phone was attacked with a pry bar, or pinch bar, by his house companion.
Ashley Luminog, the victim, was wounded "above his forehead."
In fact, his head was wrapped around with bandage during an interview with GMA Regional TV Balitang Bisdak. He has just arrived from the hospital prior to the interview.
He said that the suspect thrusted a pry bar at him while he was sleeping. He was hit "above the forehead."
The suspect, alias “Tibo,” attempted reportedly a second thrust but he was able to parry him.
The incident happened inside their residence in Sitio Lumbani, Barangay Guadalupe.
The victim said that the incident took place on November 19, 2025 at past 10 p.m. He said he was awakened by the thud and searing pain on his head. He woke up to blood oozing from his head.
He said he saw alias “Tibo,” 19 years old, holding the pry bar.
Authorities responded immediately that led to the arrest of the suspect. Police found the bar in his possession. He was detained at the Guadalupe Police Station.
The suspect refused an on-camera interview, but mentioned of his remorse.
According to the victim, it is possible that the suspect got jealous when he purchased a new cellphone. He added that since the suspect’s family is fond of him, it could have fueled possibly the jealous fit.
Further, the victim pointed out that he did not let the suspect borrow his new cellphone because he saved up for quite a time to be able to buy the gadget. He considers it a personal item and a prized possession.
The victim also surmised that the suspect got jealous because he is close to his grandparent.
The grandparent would often compare him to that of the suspect, citing the latter to be a headache to the family.
The victim added he is determined to file a case against the suspect.
