Residents of San Fabian, Pangasinan continue to worry about low-hanging cables along a road near a day care center, nearly two weeks after Super Typhoon #UwanPH toppled trees and utility poles in the area.

Rochelle Sanchez, who passes the road every day to bring her child to school, said motorists struggle to avoid the wires.

“’Yung mga motorista na dumadaan diyan nahihirapan, lalo na at tapat ng school ’yan,” she said.

The cables were damaged when strong winds from the typhoon brought down several trees and posts. Clearing teams have already removed fallen debris, but the cables remain unrepaired.

To prevent accidents, residents tied white sacks and plastic soda bottles to the hanging wires to make them more visible. But many say this is not enough.

“Siyempre mahirap na ganyan lang ’yan, delikado,” Marivic Ebreo, a motorist, said.

The local government said it is aware of the safety risks and has coordinated with electric utilities and telecommunication companies to fix the issue.

San Fabian DRRM Officer Engr. Lope Juguilon said they continue to follow up with service providers.

“Wala naman kaming binigay na timeframe pero talagang tinatawagan namin sila lalo pa’t ’yung mga kababayan namin palagi rin tumatawag sa amin,” he said.

Personnel from the DPWH also visited the site morning on Thursday, November 20, 2025, to assist with clearing operations.

The LGU said it will again reach out to utility companies and request that repairs to the hanging cables be prioritized.
