An injured Philippine serpent eagle was rescued after falling from a tree in Barangay Bugo, Cagayan de Oro City.

According to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Northern Mindanao (DENR-10), a concerned citizen found the endemic raptor after it fell from a tree and turned it over to the barangay.

Barangay officials noticed that the bird was weak and had a visible injury in its right eye, prompting them to seek assistance from the Cagayan de Oro Urban Search and Rescue (CDO-USAR) Team, which then facilitated the turnover to the Protected Area Management and Biodiversity Conservation Section (PAMBCS) of DENR-10.

A DENR veterinarian treated the eye injury and administered essential care to stabilize the bird.

The bird was transferred to a dedicated recovery enclosure at the Regional Wildlife Rescue Center for continued rehabilitation.

DENR-10 urged the public to report any distressed or injured wildlife to authorities.
