The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)-Davao Oriental has confirmed that 11 establishments in the province violated the price freeze order following the declaration of a state of national calamity.

According to a report by GMA Super Radyo Davao, DTI-Davao Oriental Director, Joycelyn Banlasan, said the agency has already issued show cause orders to the stores – two in Caraga, four in Lupon, and five in Mati City - for them to explain why they did not follow the order.

Banlasan said that during inspections, DTI personnel found that these establishments were selling basic commodities above the prescribed prices despite the nationwide price freeze in connection with the declaration of a state of calamity following the series of earthquakes in the province.

Banlasan added that the price freeze will be in effect until January 6, 2026 after President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. declared a state of national calamity when Typhoons Tino and Uwan devastated many parts of the country.

Products covered by the price freeze include sardines, processed milk, coffee, bread, instant noodles, salt, laundry soap, and bottled water.
