The new mayor of Libacao town in the Province of Aklan has assumed office along with the new vice mayor.

Former member of Sangguniang Bayan (Municipal Council) Tim Bryan Teodosio replaced Vincent Navarosa, the dismissed mayor. Meanwhile, Sangguniang Bayan Member Winston Navarosa replaced Charito Navarosa, the dismissed vice mayor.

Teodosio and Navarosa assumed their new posts after the Office of the Ombudsman junked the motion for reconsideration submitted by the father-and-son tandem of the Navarosas on the dismissal ordered by the Ombudsman for grave misconduct.

The case is in relation to violation of Republic Act 6713, or Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees filed by a private company.

The Navarosas were dismissed earlier prior to the completion of their previous terms. However, because they won in the elections, they assumed office.

“What we implemented was the denial of the motion for reconsideration. It means that initial decision implemented by the Office of the Ombudsman will stand, which provides for the dismissal from service upon the respondent public officials,” said Atty. Cyra Mae Eustaquio, assistant legal officer of the Department of the Interior and Local Government 6.
