A carpenter wanted for allegedly raping the minor daughter of his former live-in partner in Iligan City has been arrested.
According to the Police Regional Office-Northern Mindanao (PRO-10), the suspect identified as alias “Orio” was arrested by virtue of a warrant for four counts of qualified rape with no bail recommended.
PRO-10 said the suspect was tagged as the number eight most wanted person in the region.
Based on records, the suspect allegedly abused the victim sexually for several years. The victim is now 14 years old.
PRO-10 said the suspect allegedly took advantage of the victim’s vulnerability and committed the crime through intimidation and manipulation.
Authorities added that the suspect allegedly continued abusing the victim sexually even after the victim and her mother moved to another house.
“The latest incident was disclosed to have occurred in May 2025. The victim shared that she endured fear and coercion throughout the years, noting that the suspect would give her money or items to keep her silent,” PRO-10 said.
The suspect is now detained and will face charges.
“PRO10 remains firm in its commitment to protecting our children from offenders who exploit and abuse them. This case underscores the importance of vigilance, especially in recognizing changes in a child’s behavior that may signal distress or abuse. We urge parents, guardians, and communities to always look after the welfare of minors and immediately report any signs of maltreatment,” PRO-10 Director, Brigadier General Christopher Abrahano, said.
