Fewer fish landings in parts of Pangasinan have forced vendors and buyers to endure long waits and higher prices, as supply in coastal towns and major markets continues to fall.

In Labrador, Pangasinan, vendors waited almost two hours on Monday for fishermen to arrive with their catch. Many said they expected to bring home more stock but were left with only a fraction of what they usually buy.

Jean Regaspi, who needed 50 kilos of mixed fish to sell in Dagupan City, said the shortage has been difficult for small businesses.

“Kaunti talaga ngayon ang suplay,” she said.

Because of the limited catch, prices climbed across various fish varieties.

Bong Alemania, another buyer, shared the same concern.

“Tumaas kasi kakaunti ang isda ngayon na nahuhuli,” he said.

In Dagupan City’s Magsaysay Fish Market, vendors said they had faced low supply for several weeks, which pushed prices even higher. Rosette Legaspi said her family now travels farther just to find stock.

“’Yung bayaw ko nagpupunta na sa ibang lugar para lang makahanap ng bibilhin na isda kasi talagang walang isda,” she said.

Based on market monitoring as of November 24, 2025, prices per kilo are:

  • Hasa-hasa – ₱280
  • Pampano – ₱550
  • Bisugo – ₱380
  • Talakitok – ₱350
  • Tanigue – ₱450
  • Malaga – ₱450
  • Bangus – ₱170–₱220
  • Pusit – ₱250–₱700
  • Alumahan – ₱150–₱200
  • Dalagang Bukid – ₱400
  • Red Snapper – ₱450
  • Swordfish – ₱150

The Samahang Industriya ng Agrikultura (SINAG) said the supply could stabilize soon if good weather continues in Luzon. SINAG chairman Rosendo So said improvements may be seen within a week.

“Kaunti pa lang siguro, mag-normalize ang sari-saring isda one week from now kapag okay na ang weather,” he said.
