What began as an ordinary trip to Dagupan City Hall ended in tragedy for a 59-year-old councilman of a barangay in Binmaley whose family is now demanding answers after he was killed in a road accident.
According to police, Edgar ManaoIs was on his way to process a relative’s death certificate when the crash happened. He had just left their home in Barangay Lomboy.
His wife, Leonora Manaois, said he was cheerful when he said goodbye, unaware it would be their final moment together.
Sobrang mahirap,” she said.
Police said Manaois attempted to overtake a utility van along Barangay Tapuac, Dagupan City, but instead hit a parked truck.
Roderick Gonzales, spokesperson of the Dagupan City Police Office, said.
Manaois was rushed to a hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
At the victim’s wake, his family urged authorities to determine responsibility for the accident.
Police investigators are now reviewing CCTV footage and looking into possible negligence by both the van driver and the driver of the parked truck.
Investigation continues, as of this posting.
