A nine-year-old girl who was reported missing was found dead floating in a creek in Barangay Los Angeles, Butuan City on Monday, November 24, 2025.

According to the Butuan City Police Office (BCPO), the girl was found after three days of search and rescue operations.

Police said the victim’s uncle told authorities earlier that his niece failed to return home after reportedly attending a “disco.”

BCPO assured the public that it will investigate the incident to bring the perpetrator to justice.

"Ang katibuk-an sa BCPO nipaabot sa among kinasingkasing ug lawom nga pakasubo sa pamilya tungod sa mapait nga hinatabo. Among gisuguro nga ang among kapulisan dili mohunong hangtod ang responsable sa krimen madakpan ug madala sa hustisya sa labing dali nga panahon,” BCPO said.

Authorities also urged the public to call the Unified Emergency Hotline 911 for emergencies and police assistance.
