A barangay chairman in Digos City, Davao del Sur was shot dead while he was live on Facebook evening on Tuesday, November 25, 2025.
According to a report by GMA Super Radyo Davao, Barangay Tres de Mayo chairman Oscar Bucol Jr. was seen on video talking to a man inside his home who had reportedly returned a lost-and-found Identification (ID) card. However, minutes later, multiple gunshots were heard.
Bucol was then seen on video bleeding and walking while calling for help.
His companions rushed him to the hospital, but he was declared dead on arrival.
The video has already been deleted.
It was learned that Bucol was known to be active on social media where he often criticized certain city and provincial officials over issues related to criminality and politics.
Authorities are still investigating the incident to identify the perpetrator and determine the motive.
Davao del Sur Governor Yvonne Cagas and her husband, Marc, condemned the incident.
Family members, supporters, and other officials are also calling for justice.
