At least 165 families were displaced after a fire hit a residential area in Barangay Taft, Surigao City on Tuesday, November 25, 2025.

Personnel of the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) and other agencies, including the Bureau of Fire Protection and volunteer groups, responded to the area to put out the fire.

Authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire and the cost of damage.

Residents affected are staying temporarily in evacuation centers. They were given modular tents, family food packs, family kits, kitchen kits, hygiene kits, and sleeping kits.

CDRRMO personnel set up an Emergency Operations Center to facilitate faster delivery of aid to affected residents and assisted the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) in relief operations.

The City Health Office also deployed its medical response teams to provide first aid, treat injuries, and ensure residents received prompt medical attention while being evacuated from the affected area.

CHO continues to monitor the condition of evacuees, particularly children, senior citizens, and those with pre-existing medical conditions.
