Two houses were damaged after a tornado hit Labangan, Zamboanga del Sur afternoon on Tuesday, November 25, 2025.

In a video footage, a white, smoke-like column can be seen swirling over a rice field in Barangay Balimbingan. The strong wind intensified later and developed into a tornado moving toward a large house in the area.

The strong winds tore off the roof of the house before crossing the road and dissipating gradually.

According to the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) chairman of Barangay Militar, Johainie Bringquez, who uploaded the video online, they had stopped in the area to seek shelter from incoming rain when they witnessed the formation of the whirlwind that later turned into a tornado.

Bringquez said at least two houses were damaged. No one was reported hurt in the incident, but the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) is still verifying it.

State weather bureau PAGASA said such weather phenomenon can form when cumulonimbus clouds are present.

The bad weather condition experienced in the area was due to the Tropical Depression Verbena.

PAGASA reminded the public to stay alert during such weather events to avoid harm flying debris carried by strong winds.
