Three workers of a restaurant in General Santos City were rescued after they lost consciousness while preparing food for customers.

Employees from a neighboring establishment assisted those who fainted and administered first aid.

“Luoy kaayo kay ang isa didto nakaihi na gud, tapos ang usa na-vertigo, ang isa parang convulsion kumbaga init kaayo ang lawas, kurug-kurog na siya, dali-dali namu gilapatan og first aid, inhaler gud,” a rescuer, Gerald Dagumanpan, said.

Rescuers from the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) arrived later and brought the workers to the hospital.

“When we arrived at the scene meron tatlong female…na nawalan ng malay or may difficulty of breathing all three were transported to SOCCSKSARGEN hospital,” CDRRMO Head, Dr. Bong Dacera Jr., said.

Reports said the workers – 33, 19, and 17 years old – were cooking in the kitchen when they fainted suddenly.

Authorities are still investigating to determine whether the fainting was caused by suffocation, poor ventilation, or inhalation of chemicals in the kitchen.

“Sunu sa ilaha, murag close daw ang ventilation or naay something na- inhale nga chemical sa sulud pero giimbestigahan pa siya kung unsa gyud ka tinoud,” Dagumanpan said.

The restaurant management has yet to issue a statement, as of this writing.

Other restaurant employees told GMA Regional TV One Mindanao that the workers who fainted are now in stable condition and were not required to return to work immediately to allow them to rest.
