Lanao del Sur Governor Mamintal Adiong, Jr. was among 23 peace advocates and world leaders recognized by Gusi Peace Prize International 2025 during a ceremony held at the Manila Metropolitan Theater.
The award honors individuals from around the world for their contributions to medicine, education, public service, and humanitarian efforts.
The 2025 honorees are from Brazil, Colombia, Djibouti, Ecuador, Greece, India, Italy, Japan, and the Philippines.
Gusi Peace Prize International is a non-government organization that honors individuals and organizations wordwide for their contributions to global peace and progress in fields such as human rights, education, and the arts.
“With many heads of states, scientific researchers, academicians, economists, politicians, much more people will believe in peace like all of us who are here,” Gusi Peace Prize International Chairman, Ambassador Barry Gusi, said.
Adiong is the only Filipino recognized for his leadership during the Marawi siege. He was also acknowledged for initiatives such as Program BOMBIT (Building Opportunities for a Meaningful Bangsamoro Inclusive Town), which has also received recognition under the DILG Gawad Kalasag Seal.
”This award belongs to the country’s peacemakers… our elders could dream itself determination… our leaders who paved the way of our Bangsamoro autonomy and our communities continue to build from conflict to resilience and hope,” Adiong said.
