Six individuals were injured after a brawl between two rival groups escalated into stabbing at an establishment in Maramag, Bukidnon.
A video of the incident that spread on social media showed several men attacking and stabbing others. A woman was also seen stepping in to separate those involved, while another man was seen brandishing a knife and smashing a bottle.
Police said the brawl started as an altercation between the two groups but this escalated when some of those involved began throwing stones and bottles.
All those involved were believed to be under the influence of alcohol.
“Kani nga grupo nagkalalisay, so didto na nagsugod nga nilabayay og bato, botilya didto na nagsugod nga nag-dinunggabay. Actually, hubog ni sila tanan (sa pagkahitabo),” Bukidnon Police Provincial Office Spokesperson, Capt. Shiela Joy Jangad, said.
The six individuals injured were brought to a hospital. Two of them have been discharged while the four others remain under observation due to serious injuries.
Authorities are still investigating the incident.
“We are identifying kung kinsa gyud ang mga biktima ug kinsa gyud ang nagasugod nga mga suspek ani nga panghitaboa. So, nag-refer pud ta sa fiscal’s office with regard to the determination ani nga mga suspek ug atoang victim ani,” Jangad added.
Police said authorities are intensifying “Oplan Sita,” particularly targeting establishments where such incidents occur, to confiscate weapons, firearms, and other dangerous items.
“As to the part sa PNP, we are intensifying our “Oplan Sita” especially sa mga imnanan ipang-confiscate gyud nato ning mga butang especially kaning mga hinagiban ug firearms if ever naa,” Jangad said.
