Two men sustained injuries after a kuliglig carrying sacks of rice fell into a river while crossing a wooden bridge in Purok Salungsong, Barangay Tangladan, Calanasan, Apayao.

The kuliglig had been making several trips to transport harvested rice to a dump truck waiting on the other side of the river.

Jhon Ray Lustre, a resident who captured the aftermath of the accident on video, said the wooden part of the bridge gave way suddenly.

The two passengers sustained scratches, but they were able to climb out safely. Residents worked together to pull the kuliglig out of the water.

The local government of Calanasan has already conducted an assessment to repair the damaged portion of the bridge.

A kuliglig is an improvised vehicle found commonly in Northern Luzon. It is used by farmers for rice and other harvests. It usually consists of a two-wheeled tractor at the front and a two-wheeled trailer at the back.
