A road in Polomolok, South Cotabato has been closed to motorists temporarily after a portion of it collapsed following heavy rains on Tuesday, December 2, 2025.
The unconcreted portion of the road beside a creek in Barangay Poblacion caved in due to floodwaters from the upland areas.
According to the barangay, the road affected has been a major help in easing traffic congestion. It also served as one of the diversion roads in the previous months when the Saldua Bridge was under renovation.
“Tungod man gud sa pagsirado nato sa Saldua Bridge, ato siyang divertan didto. Dako unta to na tabang,” Barangay Poblacion Chairman Jesse Bontuyan said.
Personnel of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office and Municipal Engineering Office have begun putting filling materials in the affected section.
The road will be closed temporarily while repairs are ongoing. However, motorists may take the main road or the highway as an alternate route.
“Atung ipahimangno sa tanan nga lumulopyo sa Brgy. Población nga atu sang ipasirado sa kasamtangan ang atung dalan diya nga connecting sa Purok Echanova paingun diri sa may highway…kay naguba man gud sa gulley,” Bontuyan added.
