A 43-year-old man who allegedly stabbed a 26-year-old man and the latter’s mother in Davao City was killed by a responding officer on Tuesday, December 2, 2025.
Based on investigation, the suspect arrived at the victims’ auto shop in Barangay Riverside armed with a knife and attacked the 26-year-old man.
The victim tried to fight back using a metal pipe but fell, and the suspect stabbed him three times.
The victim’s mother intervened to defend her son but she was also stabbed in the back.
The victims were brought to a hospital for treatment.
Personnel of the Task Force (TF) Davao and Calinan Police Station responded and searched the houses nearby. The suspect was found eventually at his mother-in-law’s house.
Instead of surrendering, the suspect reportedly became hostile and attempted to stab one of the personnel of TF Davao, prompting the officer to defend himself by firing his gun.
The suspect ran and was pursued by authorities until he was cornered and arrested. Seized from his possession was a 13-inch kitchen knife.
Authorities found that the suspect sustained a gunshot wound. He was rushed to a hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
“Nung kanyang pinaputukan ito, tumakbo ‘yung tao. Nung nakita na may tama, ito’y itinakbo nila sa hospital. But unfortunately, nadeclare siyang DOA,” Davao City Police Office (DCPO) Director, Col. Mannan Muarip, said.
The TF Davao member who fired at the suspect was placed under investigation, and his gun was subjected to ballistic examination.
Investigation into the incident continues to determine the motive behind the stabbing.
Police said the families of the suspect and the victims had a long-standing conflict.
“‘Yung matagal nang hidwaan ng dalawang mag-anak, dalawang magpamilya. So, naayos na rin sila ng barangay but unfortunately kahapon, ‘yung suspek natin, umatake sa kabilang pamilya,” Muarip added.
DCPO has deployed police officers in the area to ensure peace and order.
