President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. led the inspection of the Bucana Bridge in Davao City on Thursday, December 4, 2025.

Marcos was accompanied by Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Vince Dizon, Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) Secretary Leo Magno, Special Assistant to the President Anton Lagdameo, Davao del Norte Second District Rep. JM Lagdameo, and the project contractor.

The construction of the 1.3-kilometer bridge began in 2023. It connects the eastern and western coastal areas of the city.

It has four lanes and a six-span extradosed structure measuring 480 meters.

The President said that once the bridge is opened to the public, the estimated travel time of around two hours will be reduced to just 20 minutes.

Marcos also lauded the Chinese contractor.

The Official Development Assistance of China allocated more than P3.1 billion for the project.

The bridge is part of the Davao City Coastal Bypass Project, which is set to be completed in 2027, according to the President.

At present, workers are finalizing the road asphalting toward Quezon Boulevard, along with the installation of electrical components and system connections.
